NOTICE : Database Errors
« on: September 30, 2012, 09:25:41 pm »
We are aware of the issues, and we are still working on them. Please stay patient with us.

The staff are instructed to lock any future topics on the matter and direct the poster to this thread.

You may discuss the issues on this thread if you wish, but please do not create any more topics on the matter until they're fixed. It gives us a lot of topics on the same matter, and can be a bit confusing both for our users and our staff.

Thanks for your cooperation and patience! :)

Just curious; do you the staff know what the issue is (what's causing the database errors)? Just curious so I could have something semi-new to tell my members other than "Our host is having problems with their database."

Thanks for your continued work.

I personally don't know 100% what caused it. They started showing up during the move for some users, but once we finished the move, there were issues for a lot more users. I will speak to Alex tomorrow (Monday) to see if he has any updates that I can give. :)

Okay, thanks for your reply. I know during the move my forum had some hiccups, but nothing major.  Hopefully this is all sorted out soon. :)

Thanks!

No problem, I do know that Alex is working with the server techs to fix this issue. You can be assured we're working on it. :)

Hi guys,

Sorry for not keeping you all updated we have been working tirelessly with the techs, we have around 60% of the forums back online. The rest should be coming back up very soon.

Full synopsis of what happened:

As you may be aware we are currently in the process of moving to a new server, moving this many forums is not an easy task, however we did not predict this downtime. We hit a bump during the moving process which did not move permissions correctly to be able to access the MySQL database. That meant we had to rebuild every forums permissions by hand, this has not been an easy task and is very time consuming. The techs and I will continue working on this non stop until the problems are fixed, please bare with us. It won't take much longer, each hour more and more forums will be coming back online.

Thanks,

Alex

Quote from: Alex
It won't take much longer.
Alex/Jaekob:
1. Could you post a completion message once the forums are back up. I would hate to be sitting patiently only to find out that there was an additional unique problem with my forum and no one was aware of it.
2. Are you doing the forums alphabetically, so that you can say A thru K have been completed or any other running status information that makes sense?
3. Are you anticipating completion in days (like tomorrow) or is the outage likely to be another week.

Hopefully you find an automated way to rebuild each forum's permission rather than hand editing.
Best wishes,
Jim

1. They should be finished by tomorrow, or the day after. I will post a topic letting people know when it's finished. :)
2. That's something that only Alex can answer, as I'm not personally working with the servers.
3. Yes, we expect that they should be finished in a day or two. However, like I've said previously, with technology, you can never guarantee anything 100%. :P

Jaekob:
Things are REALLY slow. It took me about 3 minutes PER PAGE to even to to this point on the support forum. My forum may have been up for a while earlier in the week, can't get to it now, but I don't know if that is a continuation of the problem or just because the whole system seems so slow.

DB error sending a PM
« Reply #9 on: October 06, 2012, 03:57:34 pm »
My "realskiers" forum appears to be up, and I was able to create a new thread and topic.
However, I get an error message when trying to send a PM (letting users know what has been going on) that indicates that the forum is version 2.0.1  and that the database is version 2.0 RC4 and saying that might be the source of my error.

When you get to it.  I'm sure this is probably a problem general to all the SMF forums.

Well, the issue appears to be fixed. Feel free to continue to post on this thread if you have future issues! :)

@Jim - Could you create a separate topic for that, as I don't believe that has to do with this recent issue.

Have you tried clearing your cookies and cache? If so and you're still having this issue, try a different browser. If you're continuing to have this problem after you try those two suggestions, feel free to create a support topic on the matter. :)

I still have it.  When I went to modify my board settings, this came up:

Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_7c1_0.MYI' (Errcode: 28)
File: /home/smfnew/public_html/smf/2/Sources/Subs-Boards.php
Line: 1047

When I try to access the ban log:

Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_7c1_0.MYI' (Errcode: 28)
File: /home/smfnew/public_html/smf/2/Sources/ManageBans.php
Line: 357

Please help so I can get my forums fixed.

Every time I make a post or reply to comments on my forum appears the following error:

"Unknown table engine 'InnoDB'
File: /home/smfnew/public_html/smf/2/Sources/Subs-Post.php
Line: 2018

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 2.0.1, while your database is at version 2.0. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php."

I agreed to the maintenance area (Find and repair any errors)and does not mark errors in the forum:

"Listing of forum errors
Congratulations, no errors found! Thanks for checking.
Back to Forum Maintenance"

Also I optimize all tables and in the Administration Center there is a warning:

"Support Information
Version Information:
Forum version: SMF 2.0.1
Current SMF version: SMF 2.0.2"

"Update Available!
You're using an outdated version of SMF, which contains some bugs which have since been fixed. It is recommended that you update your forum to the latest version as soon as possible. It only takes a minute!"

I click the link to update the forum and nothing happens:

LINK: http://www.myforum.smffy.com/index.php?action=admin;area=packages;pgdownload;auto;package=http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/downloads/smf_patch_2.0.2.tar.gz;dxxxxxxx=6xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I just hope I can get a solution, grateful in advance for any help you can give me

Same error:

Code: [Select]
Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_7c1_0.MYI' (Errcode: 28)
File: /home/smfnew/public_html/smf/1/Sources/Subs-Portal.php
Line: 306

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.15, while your database is at version 1.1.8. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

Except mine is on every single page.
