Just post whatever your listening to right now. Whether it's a song, video or even your annoying brother! :p (And yes, I am a betrayer of http://www.simplemachines.org/ (http://www.simplemachines.org/) and http://smfnew.com/ (http://smfnew.com/) considering the fact I am copying this off of http://www.simplemachines.org/ (http://www.simplemachines.org/) :p )
Right now I am listening to 'Never Stay Away' By B.O.B. :p

Incredibly epic guitar riff that I'd love to learn to play once I get my guitar out again.

In A Gada Da Vida :3
-
Project Aegis - Collide & Spark (a side project by Theocracy frontman, Matt Smith). This track was written for a Nashville, TN charity that helps the homeless of said city- $.99, and all proceeds go to that charity. I love the song, I definitely think everyone should buy it. :)
Here's a preview-

Them guitar rifts are so clean.

Compared to some stuff, I suppose, but just check out Theocracy's Laying the Demon to Rest or Nailed. ;)
-
Jefferson Airplane :3
I've been in the past the last few days. I've rediscovered stuff of mine from like 3 years ago and it's making me so happy. I'm even talking to friends I haven't spoke to in years.
It's only fitting that my music is old too. So, going back and forth between 60s n 70s whatnot at the moment.
-
I love Elvis and Bing Crosby, actually. I received an Elvis Christmas CD for my birthday, and I received a collection of his Gospel songs for my graduation. I don't currently have any Bing Crosby though.
-
Now it's California Dreaming - The Mamas & The Papas .... I am really getting out there :P
I've got a Christmas station on Pandora on my phone and I LOOOOOOOVVEEEEEEE The Bing Crosby stuff. Never been much of an Elvis fan myself.
-
Well, my grandma got me started on Elvis, as she had Sirius Radio in her SUV at one point, and I just really loved the music on the Elvis channel.
-
Well, I am having great difficulty in telling what I'm listening to now because I'm blinder than a bat and can't read what my tv says (Pandora on my tv) but it's on the Empire Of The Sun station. My little brother wanted music to sort his Magic The Gathering cards.
Can kinda make it out... So This Is Goodbye and it's some remix by someone I can't read...can't read the artist.... BLAH!

We can say hello and never say goodbye
Love can last forever without any doubt

I have listened to this song like 80 times in the last two weeks .... Idunno why but I LOVE the sound of it.
I love how my taste in music changes every couple of months. I've liked just about every genre except rap at one point or another.

Does listening to my mom badly sing Eminem all day count? :P
-
No, since Eminem doesn't sing. ;) In all actuality, he, Lecrae, and TobyMac are about the only rappers I can actually somewhat listen to.
Stryper - Rock that Makes Me Roll (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFdgHnPZtQw)

Greatest book in the history of foreverness if I do say so myself. My mom read this to me like every night when I was little and now I found it on youtube so I can listen to someone else read it if I am sad ever.

"You've been hurt before
And you don't want any more
There's a better way for you
Believe in me, I'll see you through"
-
I'm currently listening to a 'little' 22-minute epic by Dream Theater, which I think is their best song to date. The 15 minute mark to the end is remarkable, and very inspiring.
"To really feel the joy in life, you must suffer through the pain
When you surrender to the light, you can face the darkest days
If you open up your eyes and you put your trust in love
On those cold and endless nights, you will never be alone
Passion glows within your heart like a furnace burning bright
Until you struggle through the dark, you’ll never know that you’re alive"

Devin Townsend is one of the most innovative, true-to-himself musicians I know of, and whether he does metal, ambient music, or simple buzzes and beeps, his work is always incredible.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmGdF7JKitg
-
The lyrics of this band may be an absolute cheesefest, but they're cheesy in a GOOD way- I love these guys. Like, they have this charm to them. Plus, the music is remarkable, so even if the lyrics weren't charming, the music would make up for it. Great music to listen to while playing MMOs or medieval-fantasy RPGs.

Thumbs up Jacob.
-
This is a Stryper song that has a lot of meaning to me personally, as it connected so well with me when I was trapped in a period of spiritual warfare and darkness.

-
You like music with a slow mellow rhythm? I like music that spices things up. :p
-
I like just about anything that isn't sell-out garbage. From the heaviness of Theocracy's Laying the Demon to Rest to the mellow, slow ballads like Stryper's Alive. I even like artists like Chris Tomlin, Michael W Smith, and Elvis. My taste in music used to be limited to metal, but I've really learned to love just about anything I consider to be true music. What's my definition of true music? Music that expresses the thoughts and creativity of the artist, without selling out for fame and money. ;)
Oh, and one thing I know is that I can't listen to dubstep, modern pop, or anything with autotune. xD
-
Ollie, you want to hear some of the heavier stuff I listen to? Try this. ;)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkCfVqMlcTM
-
Now that's more like it... True rhythm and flow.
-
Here's the 'sequel' to that song in terms of sound. A little slower, but still as heavy.

"And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?"
I love this song. Saw Chris and Louie live back in October (I think), and you wouldn't believe how intense this song was when they played it. The string section that comes after the lines above just combined so well with the rest of the music. You could feel the drums in your chest, and it was so intense to see the joy of God on the faces of all the people there. :) If Chris ever plays anywhere near where I live again, I'm going, no doubt. It was just intense, probably the best concert I've been to.. even better than Trans-Siberian Orchestra or Avantasia.

In fact, this is the exact show I was at, but I was up in the middle-height seats on the one side, about half-way between the stage and the back of that side of the arena (there's two auditoriums- that place was massive), and it was still more thunderous than I expected.

I went to see them live also.
The are a amazing inspiring band.
Here is some music that I sometimes listen to on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33YcYLumEDk
Coming from a person that also plays guitar, "That kid is awesome!"
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMgOFQphOzs
Look at this.
This makes me wonder if my guitar experience level is still at, "strum to see what it sounds like."
This kid is amazing!
-
As much as I love the music Chris does, Louie's sermon really hit me at the core. Turns out, I was just coming out of that period of darkness and trial that I mentioned earlier, then I went to that show. Louie's sermon just reaffirmed my faith. :)
As for that first video, that was remarkable. Not trying to sound racist or anything, but it totally reminds me of a quote I saw on a Guitar Hero video- "You think you're good? Know that there's always a Korean kid who can do it 100x better." It's so true. Many people don't consider how talented people can be. Honestly, as much of a metal guitarist as I am, classical guitar like that always has impressed me and made me think, "I'm truly not that great compared to this."
And the second video.. Living on a Prayer is my favorite Bon Jovi song (and no, not because of Guitar Hero- it always has been my favorite before I even had the game this song was on :P ), and it's interesting, but awesome to hear it acoustic like that.
-
Great song here, with some awesome high-pitched wailing from Christian Liljegren. Man, that guy is all over the place in the melodic metal scene.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWNK604df6M
-
Could you imagine a massive flash mob doing this song with like, a 150-vocalist choir, a drummer, two guitarists, a string quartet, and an acoustic guitarist? Ohh man, that would be remarkable.

Some of the most awesome lyrics ever. Really does sound like a battle anthem.
"As I sit alone and tired, with time to spare
Temptation rears its ugly head
Born from a deceptive dream into a nightmare
It calls to me again
Testing me to see if I will break this time
Or at least how far I'll bend
I can see its glowing eyes and hear its evil cries
'Come dance with me, my friend...'
So, the things that I want to do
I find myself not doing
but the things that I don't want to do
I fall into - Why?
Why do we struggle with the former things and
live in our own power below our means?
War!
Don't you understand this is war?
War with the principalities and powers
Things unseen that would devour us all
The spirit battles the flesh
And now my wounds are deep
and torn wide open
I'm tired and weary, hurt and broken down
Lead - us - not
Into temptation
But - deliver - us
From the evil one
Darkness - falls
On my spirit again
Again - temptation - calls
I can hear it!
As the battle rages on and on
I face the things that put my faith to the test
When fallen angels won't leave me alone
Father, come and lay the demon to rest
When my sword has broken off in my hand
I see the dark futility of the flesh
When I'm about to fall, please help me stand
Father, come and lay the demon to rest!
They're on my back!
I run, but I can feel their talons
digging in my flesh
Blood trickles down upon the earth
And I grow weaker with each breath!
Each time I shake one off
another wraps its teeth around my neck
And every time, the one, the thorn is there
To tear me down again!
The angels counterstrike-
Their flaming swords slice through
the fallen ones
The demons reunite, attack again
The cycle has begun:
Caught in the middle of this present darkness
with nowhere to run,
We're in a holy war,
As it is written, so shall it be done..
Where there's a will, there's a way, they say
But sometimes my will seems to get in the way
So You will have to fight for me today...
As the battle rages on and on
I face the things that put my faith to the test
When fallen angels won't leave me alone
Father, come and lay the demon to rest
When my sword has broken off in my hand
I see the dark futility of the flesh
When I'm about to fall, please help me stand
Father, come and lay the demon to rest!"

One of the best electronic-classical crossover songs I've heard. Leave it to Helmut Vonlichten to take one of my least favorite genres of music and successfully mix it with one of my favorite genres. :P

My Les Friction CD arrived in the mail today. I'm a bit confused, as I was under the impression that included both the instrumental versions, and the versions with their vocalist, but it only includes the ones with their vocalist. I sent them a message, maybe that will clarify for me.

I keep itunes on in the background sometimes when I am coding just to keep me going.

I usually run Winamp in the background for most of the things I do on my laptop, it does help keep me flowing I've noticed.

What a great live DVD (if it's actually on DVD, considering this was '89). These guys can still rock this well these days, but man...

I listen to just about anything or anyone that I feel have talent and truly understand what music truly is. Some of my favorite metal bands are Theocracy, Stryper, Avantasia/Edguy, Les Friction and ES Posthumus, and Devin Townsend. I also listen to artists like Chris Tomlin, Third Day, and Elvis as well.
At the moment, I'm listening to one of the best rock operas in history, Avantasia's "The Mystery of Time". There's this wonderful ballad called What's Left of Me, and it includes Eric Martin (Mr. Big) on guest vocals playing the role of a beggar on the streets that bothers Aaron (the lead character), who happens to be having trouble knowing what to believe.

No problem. ES Posthumus and Les Friction are essentially the same bands, though Les Friction was formed after Franz Vonlichten passed away, as a way for Helmut Vonlichten to carry on the band's spirit without stepping on the work he did with his brother. Additionally, Les Friction has a male lead vocalist, whereas all of ES Posthumus' albums are primarily instrumental with choirs (except their second album Cartographer, which was not only lighter and more peaceful in sound, but also included one instrumental CD as well as a CD with the lead vocals of 'Luna Sans'.

I never really was a major fan of metalcore, but this band is impressive, especially in their lyrics. I love the part below. Lyrically, it's really deep and beautiful (unusual for metalcore from what I've experienced). Musically, there's some really beautiful guitar work in the background while the guy is saying this.
"And as he carried His cross on his back,
Beaten and bloody, I saw myself there too..
Because I've been broken by a world that hates me
But I'm not alone anymore (alone no more)!
No one can take His life; He laid it down for me!
That twisted wreath of thorns, yeah, He took that crown for me-
Then after three days, out of the ground for me,
He overcame it all!"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9msBh8ozOEY
-
Same band, different song. These guys have some really awesome lyrics from what I've encountered.
"I will never bow down to your idols,
I know who I am!
You'll have to put me in the ground to silence me:
This is my final stand!
You can't kill me- I'm already dead
This is the martyr's cry!
So as the crowd demands my head,
My time has come to die!"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3YralohfoI
-
Awesome performance of an awesome song.. though I still like Ted Neeley- he had a lot more power in the high notes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ6WSjtmxNM
-
Great album, one of Michael's best periods vocally. Lyrically, however, it's probably my least favorite Stryper record due to the fact that they not only abandoned the yellow & black, but they also removed most of the Christian themes. I'm just glad that every record since has been incredible lyrically, now that the Christian themes returned. :)

So beautiful lyrically. Really fits well to the way I'm feeling right now.
"I am nothing
,
You are everything
Let this truth resonate in my soul
Take my life God, I give you control
I have stumbled, I have fallen, I've grown weary, and yet I'm still walking
I've been stuck here with all these questions inside my head
But I will never forget the words that you have said:
'You are the child of the King, you have been set free. There is nothing that can separate you from me. I am the one that calls you son, I formed you in the womb, I conquered the grave, your home is not a tomb!'
God, this just can't be, I'm so unworthy but Your grace has washed me clean and now I'm learning that You’re changing everything and I am not the same, You made everything change...
When You called my name, my heart stopped and our pulse became the same!
When You calmed my soul, I felt the earth shake and the mountains tremble!
When You called my name, I finally came alive again!
When You call me son, I feel your blood in my veins and your breath in my lungs!
When You call my name!"

This is honestly a song that is growing on me. When I first heard it, it didn't stand out to me as much as Edguy's other longer songs do, but it's growing on me every time I listen to it. So incredible- this entire album is simply remarkable. One of their best works to date.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xniw-6mOx4

I heard their original vocalist Johanna (the one in this video) is returning, which is awesome. Their second vocalist is talented, but her voice simply didn't fit this style of music.

If you like calming music, check out either ES Posthumus' album, Cartographer, which has an instrumental-only CD with it (the "Piri Reis Remixes"), or Devin Townsend's album, Ghost. Ghost isn't an instrumental album, but it's quite calming and the vocals are very subtle. Here's a really great song off of Ghost:

And off of Cartographer:

As I said on my FB page:
This is, without a doubt, the single-best song I've ever heard before. Even six years after I first heard it, it still catches my attention. It's 23 minutes of conceptual epic and there isn't a single boring moment.

One of the MOST talented vocalists I've ever heard in my life. Screaming those high notes from Stryper are the easy part- singing high like he does in this song is INCREDIBLY hard, particularly for this natural-baritone with about a 3-octave range (me)...

The Architect Behind it All - Earthmosphere (that's what the album's called). Really impressive ambient/atmospheric progressive rock/metal instrumental music.

EDIT: Checked it out, it has a very Chris Tomlin-ish feel to it and I am a huge Chris Tomlin fan so it's really nice to hear more artists with his sound and lyrical style. :)

If You Want Love - NF

Nice, NF is the only hip-hop/rap artist I can actually sit down and listen to! Haven't heard any of his new stuff yet though, last thing I heard was Therapy Session.
Anyways, Red's Of Beauty and Rage is my jam for now. I'm looking forward to their new album, but Of Beauty and Rage was their best album so far in my book (followed closely by their second album, Innocence & Instinct). Here's one of the singles from OBaR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wfo4Jbn1fiY

I've been quite obsessed with this song recently. I've been exploring Japanese history, culture and society for the past year and a half, and it has led me to find some really awesome bands in their rock and metal scene.
