It really bugged me when I realized that no one made a Skate forum, so I decided to make one :)

For all you skaters out there, I bring you www.skate.smfnew.com , home of the skaters. If you skate, feel free to join and discuss. Even if you don't skate, there is an off-topic section in which I invite you to post in!

Staff posisions are currently OPEN!

Not really much else to say. Just have fun, and enjoy the forum!,

Support / Need help creating MyBBNew forum.
« on: July 29, 2009, 01:05:25 pm »
Hey. I've got some problems creating a MyBB forum. I filled out all of the information to create it but when I create the forum, a new page comes up saying:

"Fatal error: Call to a member function query() on a non-object in /home/mybbnew/public_html/multi/functions/functions.php on line 61"

Can someone help me?

General Discussion / Sorry Guys
« on: July 25, 2009, 06:39:45 pm »
This may not be the right section, I just chose the one best suitable for the topic.

As you might've noticed, I haven't been on for a while. Well, this is because my computer has a terrible virus, and it's being fixed. The only way I can use a computer is if I go on my brother's computer, which I am on right now. I might be on a little less, but not to worry, this doesn't mean I am totally quitting the forums. I'll inform you guys when my computer is fixed. Thanks for taking the time to read this,

Chapter 1: Creating an account for the playlist
Chapter 2: Creating the playlist itself
Chapter 3: Put the playlist on your forums

Creating an account for the playlist

First, go to http://www.playlist.com
Next, look in the topright corner of the page, and click on "Sign up" You will be redirected to a new page where you should fill in the information needed. When you are finished, click "Sign up!" Now, click, "View Profile" and you should be ready to create the playlist!

Creating the playlist itself

On the top left corner of the page, you'll see a search bar. Search the artist or track you are looking for, and press enter on the keyboard.
You can listen to the music by clicking the play button. If you like the music, click the plus sign button, to add it to your playlist. You can hold up to either 200 songs or unlimited songs, not really sure. You can search as many times as you want, don't worry it automatically saves when you click the plus sign button.
When you've finished adding tracks, look at the bottom right of the playlist, and click "Embed"
You'll see a few options to choose from. Click "Get the code for any other social network, blog or your own personal website"
Choose the playlist you would like to embed. You will now be brought to a page where you can change options about the playlist. I suggest you don't change anything, but you can if you wish. Click "Get Code" when your done changing the options (If you do.) You will be redirected to a page with your HTML code. Highlight it and copy it. Now, you'll be able to put it in your forum. REMEMBER TO KEEP THE CODE COPIED

Putting the playlist on your forums

Go to your forum, log-in to your account, and go into the admin section. When you're there, look under the "Forum" section and click "Boards"
Click "Create new category" and for full name type in "playlist" and click Add Category
Now, under the category, click "New board" and for the name, type in "Playlist" just like the category. And for the description, paste the HTML code you copied earlier. Click "Add board" and there you go. A free new playlist for your forum.

Hope I helped you guys out! If I did, feel free to leave a post on this thread. Have fun with your playlist!
*Any troubleshooting, send me a message or leave a post.*

Binned / Modification - Visual Warning
« on: February 08, 2009, 03:07:50 pm »
Forum URL: http://clientscape.smfnew.com
Add-on Name: Visual Warning Mod (or I call it: Infraction system)
URL To Download: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=878
The Use Of The Add-on: When users do something bad, but not bad enough to get banned (such as 1 spam post) they will get a warning. This is easier, so I won't need to write the infractions/warnings down.
Comments: None.

Installing this on my forums (clientscape.smfnew.com) will be greatly appriciated!

Thanks,
-Hellz

Outdated (Closed for posting) / Suggestions on your staff!
« on: January 18, 2009, 07:42:39 pm »
Here is a basic script of how your staff should look:

- Owner

- Administrator (1)
- Administrator (2)

- Super moderator (rename the global mod) (1)
- Super moderator (rename the global mod) (2)
- Super moderator (rename the global mod) (3)

- Jr Moderator (1)
- Jr Moderator (2)
- Jr Moderator (3)
- Jr Moderator (4)

- Sectional moderator (1)
- Sectional moderator (2)
- Sectional moderator (3)
- Sectional moderator (4)
- Sectional moderator (5)

Permissions

Owner - Must I say it?

Admins - Everything ;)

Head Moderator - Can IP ban and Perminently ban, also can do anything with topics (E.G move, remove, lock, etc...) Can access the admin cPanel for ONLY creating categories and boards

Super Moderators - Same thing as head moderator without the admin cPanel

Jr Moderators - Same thing as super moderators without the IP banning

Sectional Moderator - This is complicating, each moderator gets 1 section of the forums to moderate. For example, 1 sectional moderator can be moderating the 'general' board, and another may be moderating the 'GFX section' board. You should NOT make a user group for this, because you can choose who you want to moderate a board when creating that board.

Choosing your moderators/admins
I suggest you choose someone who is MATURE. I was an administrator on a vBulletin forum once, but I requested a demote because the owner was fairly immature. This goes for the owner, too. Don't be like someone I know who made a thread called "boobies" and stickied it just because he was owner and he thinks no one will care. He got flamed and many people left the site... So remember to pick people who are mature. Don't say "first one to join gets [insert position here]!!!" Because you may be threatening your forums. I am doing it because I am desperate :p but it's really stupid of me. Lol. Here is the amount of posts a user should have to get the following usergroup:
  • Admin - atleast 200 posts
  • Head mod - Atleast 150 posts
  • Super Moderators - 100 posts
  • Jr moderators - 75 posts
  • Sectional Moderators - 50 posts (remember to choose the section he/she is posting most in)

Other information
Sectional Moderators can be different than 5, depending on what you are basing the moderators on (for example, boards, categories, etc...) What I mean by this is if you are basing your moderators on categories, and you have 5 categories, then have 5 sectional moderators. This works for boards, as well. And I might add, do not be afraid to give 2 moderators the same board to moderate, or leave some boards open with no sectional moderators. I think sectional moderators is a great way to moderate your forums because each moderator is pitching in.

Remember, immaturity = FAIL

As for super moderators and the admin cPanel, it would also be a good idea to let them modify the usergroups.

Crowns
Admins - Example

Head Mod - Example

Super moderator - Example

I will continue the crowns on the next post, it will not allow me to put any more images in.

Note:Remember these are just my ideas, you do not HAVE to put them exactly like this, it's just a suggestion[/B]

http://www.Hellsjanitor.smfnew.com

Please join, it's a BRAND NEW site and it is very organized and categorized.

This is basiclly a gaming site. We are going to have a RUNESCAPE PRIVATE SERVER! It will be up and running soon. But to keep you busy untill then, we are supplying you with these great forums.

We have a ChatBox!

***3 MORE ADMIN POSITIONS LEFT, TO GET THEM, MESSAGE ME EITHER ON THIS SITE, OR MY SITE!***

***3 MORE GLOBAL POSITIONS LEFT, TO GET THEM, MESSAGE ME EITHER ON THIS SITE, OR MY SITE!***

***4 MORE MOD POSITIONS LEFT, TO GET THEM, MESSAGE ME EITHER ON THIS SITE, OR MY SITE!***

10
That's right... A FREE chatbox to go into your forums, and to get it easily!

I will be showing you how to in just a moment, after this brief summarizing the chapter theory!:

Chapter 1 - Getting the ChatBox
Chapter 2 - entering information for your chatbox
Chapter 3 - putting your chatbox in your site

CHAPTER 1 - Getting your ChatBox

To get your chatbox, you must first go to http://www.xat.com

Click on widgets, then when the page loads, click on "get a free chatbox now" You are not done yet, so keep this page up.

CHAPTER 2 - entering information for your chatbox

You will be shortly redirected to a new page, if you had followed my instructions above.

You will now need to pick a picture for your backround on the chatbox. You may use your own, use a pre-made backround, or even get one off of photobucket. But I suggest using the pre-made ones.

Now, you must choose if you want the ChatBox to be large, medium, or small. For my site, I used medium, but you may choose whatever you feel is right.

Lastly, click "update and get code" and when you click it, below it will say "copy the code below to your page" copy that. (if you don't fail at life you would know that to copy it you must highlight it and hold down Ctrl+C at the same time) Now when you are sure you have copied it, go to your SMF site,

CHAPTER 3 - Putting your chatbox in your forums

When you are at your site, click on "admin" at the top of the page. Now under navigation, look for "boards" and click on it. Create a new category. Inside that category, create a board and name the board "Chatbox" and for description, put the code you copied earlier in this tutorial. now save this board, go home, and look at the ChatBox you have made.

If you have any questions, please leave me a message, and I would be very glad if you registered on my forums at http://www.hellsjanitor.smfnew.com

Thanks for reading, and enjoy your ChatBox.

Forum Games / What do you think of when I say the word ____?
« on: December 26, 2008, 09:41:59 pm »
This game is pretty fun, you must say what you are thinking of when the above poster says the word. For example:

Player A: What do you think of what I say the word "eggs"
Player B: Chicken. What do you think of when I say the word "smile"
Player C: Happy. What do you think of when I say "ball"

And so on...

I guess I shall start it off

What do you think of when I say the word "Fire"
