News & Updates / Resigning from my position
« on: June 24, 2012, 08:05:37 am »
Hello SMFNew.

You have noticed that I haven't been online for days, this is because my irl problems etc.
I really don't have much time to be on computer, it's because of personal problems.
I enjoyed being staff member on here to help people with their forums, but it's more wise to give chance to give my position to users who are alot more active than me.
Sorry for disappointing you all.

On this "tutorial" I will show you how to add several actions with html.
You don't need any html knowledge to follow this tutorial, just copy paste.
I'm not good on explaining things, but I will try my best. ;)

1. Image links
Code: [Select]
<a href="http://www.support.smfnew.com" target="_blank"> <!--Replace link with your own link-->
 <img src="smfnewlogo.gif" /> <!--replace image's name/link with your own.-->
Image can be link or just name of your image. If you're using image's name, it needs to be on same directory. Otherwise you need to put directory's name on it too. Example: <img src="folder1/smfnewlogo.gif" />

2. Making page to redirect on other site.
Making html page to redirect on other site is very simple and easy. There's many ways to do it, but I will only show you one way.
Code: [Select]
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html"><!--Replace url with your own link-->Note: content="#; means time until page redirects, so if you change it to: content="10;
your page will redirect after 10 seconds.

3. Html link button
There's also many ways to make buttons, but I will show only one way again.
Code: [Select]
<FORM>
<INPUT TYPE="BUTTON" VALUE="Home Page"
<!--Replace "Home Page" with your own text.-->
ONCLICK="window.location.href='http://www.support.smfnew.com'">
<!--Replace "http://www.support.smfnew.com" with your own link.-->
</FORM>
Buttons can be designed with css, I will make tutorial for css later.

Note: This tutorial is still under "construction" I will continue it when I have more time. :)

Tips & Resources / How to block spam bots [ON REGISTRATION]
« on: January 31, 2012, 07:46:32 am »
Best way to block spam bots. :)

Okay let's start...

First on your forum, open admin panel.

Go to Configuration -> Security and moderation -> Anti-Spam

Scroll down and set Number of verification questions user must answer

Under that set your questions.

Example of my questions:

Tip: Do not add question like "are you bot" bots can usually track that question.

Okay, if you did it correctly it should look like this:

I hope this helped. :)

« on: December 20, 2011, 09:12:11 am »
Okay, so I'm here with bad problem. I don't remember what I did, but it didn't seem so critical.

But now, I can't see any posts on forums and if I post thread on forums, I can't see what I wrote on it.
I just need to know which .php file manages this and how to fix it if possible.

Thanks in advance.

Hello, my pro hosting ends soon and I'm afraid that I can't pay another month of it yet. So, I'm wondering what happens to my forums? Do I just lose my control panel or what happens? :)

I guess I should have posted this on simpleportal's official site, but I think this is only community which wants to help. So I have small problems with my simpleportal 2.3.4. I tried modification package, but it fked my forum. So I decided to install it manually. Now simpleportal works for me, but I can't change anything because there's no "admin" tab for it.

Support / Problem
« on: December 03, 2011, 05:46:20 am »
I'm using pro hosting and I just uninstalled mod from my forums. Now I can't access my forums and it says:
Warning: require_once(/home/teamunli/public_html/Sources/Subs-Portal.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/teamunli/public_html/index.php on line 55

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/teamunli/public_html/Sources/Subs-Portal.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/teamunli/public_html/index.php on line 55

Anyone knows fix for this?

SOLVED: removed from index.php:
require_once($sourcedir . '/Subs-Portal.php');
sportal_init();
$sp_action = sportal_catch_action();
