Title: Hello
Post by: mojo on July 10, 2012, 07:20:52 am
Hi

I do apologise for jumping straight into the support section before even starting a small intro, I have ran forum previously (it was a couple of years ago) and just wanting to start one up again. However, this is my first time playing about with SMF so still got a lot to learn.

This looks like a great resource, and I knew almost immediately that I'd want the pro hosting package as I already got a picture in my mind of what the forum should feature. I like how simple everything is made and the support seems excellent so far so keep up the great work staff.

To be more specific, I am going to be starting up an RSPS shortly (I'm sure some people here will know what that stands for!) so I decided to use you guys for forum hosting if that would be OK?

Regards

Mojo

Edit: My 6th post and the annoying (captcha) verification has stopped Woohoo :)

Welcome
Uhm But the way I believe no one is allowed to have a webclient on any SMFNEW website. Anyways Welcome to SMFNEW and good luck with your runescape private server ;).

OK thanks for the tip. I actually don't have a webclient, just a download one but was thinking of making one. Guess I will use a 3rd party host and just link to it, hopefully that will be ok. :)

Forums ABOUT RSPS's are safe within the SMFNew ToS - though I'd be careful about two things:

1. Try to refrain from including (or limit the use of) any Jagex-created artwork, pictures, etc on the site - this could result in Jagex sending a DMCA to us, and ultimately could end in your forum being suspended until you remove it.

2. Don't host your server off of our hosting - no webclients are allowed, nor do we allow our hosting to be used for server downloads. If we find either, we usually send a warning or two - then, if there's no response, or a refusal, we suspend the forum.

If you consider those tips, you should be okay. :)

As for your introduction - welcome to SMFNew! I don't play RSPS's anymore, as I think normal RuneScape is sufficient enough, plus I like Jagex. ;)

Thanks for your response. Very reasonable terms you have there, and I will abide by them of course :)

@๖̶̶̶̶̶̶Lewis™ : I have not officially released my server yet so my forums are blank. This is because:
1. I am still actively working on the server, it's about 95% ready to play
2. I am waiting for my TLD to be approved because, I don't want to be promoting my site as "smfnew" (no offence, but doesn't look professional :p)

Will pass out the link soon ("watch this space")
