Your own adverts on your forum!
« on: February 05, 2009, 12:31:28 pm »
EDIT : I made a little mistake on the tutorial, it should now be fixed so please follow the instructions and let me know if it works okay, I may have missed a bit etc but should work!!

Hey all,

SMFNew are now allowing YOUR OWN advert on your own forum.

Here are the steps :

1) To turn on your portal use this tutorial by D F L : http://support.smfnew.com/showthread.php?t=1489

2) Click 'ADD BLOCK' then click 'HTML BLOCK'

3) Add your advert code, either a html banner or a advert code, for this example we are using adsense. Type in the name something like 'advert1' but this does not matter.

On Block permissions you can pick who sees the adverts, for example you may not want yourself or mods to see the adverts, if you do not want them to see it untick next to their name. For our example we will only allow guests to see adverts.

Place the advert code in the box for Custom HTML

For the column we recommend right, this actually goes on the top but do not pick top. You will see why later.

To stop your members collapsing the box click Not collapsible.

Here is what it should look like by now :

Then you are done!! This should be what your forum now looks like :

Have a play around with it, you can find you can put things in all sorts of places!!

well either you have to sign up to adsense http://www.google.com/adsense or sell a banner etc. If you have a adsense account go to adsense setup.
