You like music with a slow mellow rhythm? I like music that spices things up.  :p

I like just about anything that isn't sell-out garbage. From the heaviness of Theocracy's Laying the Demon to Rest to the mellow, slow ballads like Stryper's Alive. I even like artists like Chris Tomlin, Michael W Smith, and Elvis. My taste in music used to be limited to metal, but I've really learned to love just about anything I consider to be true music. What's my definition of true music? Music that expresses the thoughts and creativity of the artist, without selling out for fame and money. ;)

Oh, and one thing I know is that I can't listen to dubstep, modern pop, or anything with autotune. xD

Ollie, you want to hear some of the heavier stuff I listen to? Try this. ;)

Here's the 'sequel' to that song in terms of sound. A little slower, but still as heavy.

This is an example of a self-produced debut album done the right way.

"And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?"

I love this song. Saw Chris and Louie live back in October (I think), and you wouldn't believe how intense this song was when they played it. The string section that comes after the lines above just combined so well with the rest of the music. You could feel the drums in your chest, and it was so intense to see the joy of God on the faces of all the people there. :) If Chris ever plays anywhere near where I live again, I'm going, no doubt. It was just intense, probably the best concert I've been to.. even better than Trans-Siberian Orchestra or Avantasia.

In fact, this is the exact show I was at, but I was up in the middle-height seats on the one side, about half-way between the stage and the back of that side of the arena (there's two auditoriums- that place was massive), and it was still more thunderous than I expected.

I went to see them live also.
The are a amazing inspiring band.

Here is some music that I sometimes listen to on youtube.

Coming from a person that also plays guitar, "That kid is awesome!"

Look at this.
This makes me wonder if my guitar experience level is still at, "strum to see what it sounds like."
This kid is amazing!

As much as I love the music Chris does, Louie's sermon really hit me at the core. Turns out, I was just coming out of that period of darkness and trial that I mentioned earlier, then I went to that show. Louie's sermon just reaffirmed my faith. :)

As for that first video, that was remarkable. Not trying to sound racist or anything, but it totally reminds me of a quote I saw on a Guitar Hero video- "You think you're good? Know that there's always a Korean kid who can do it 100x better." It's so true. Many people don't consider how talented people can be. Honestly, as much of a metal guitarist as I am, classical guitar like that always has impressed me and made me think, "I'm truly not that great compared to this."

And the second video.. Living on a Prayer is my favorite Bon Jovi song (and no, not because of Guitar Hero- it always has been my favorite before I even had the game this song was on :P ), and it's interesting, but awesome to hear it acoustic like that.

Great song here, with some awesome high-pitched wailing from Christian Liljegren. Man, that guy is all over the place in the melodic metal scene.

Could you imagine a massive flash mob doing this song with like, a 150-vocalist choir, a drummer, two guitarists, a string quartet, and an acoustic guitarist? Ohh man, that would be remarkable.

Some of the most awesome lyrics ever. Really does sound like a battle anthem.

Quote
"As I sit alone and tired, with time to spare
Temptation rears its ugly head
Born from a deceptive dream into a nightmare
It calls to me again
Testing me to see if I will break this time
Or at least how far I'll bend
I can see its glowing eyes and hear its evil cries
'Come dance with me, my friend...'

So, the things that I want to do
I find myself not doing
but the things that I don't want to do
I fall into - Why?
Why do we struggle with the former things and
live in our own power below our means?

War!
Don't you understand this is war?
War with the principalities and powers
Things unseen that would devour us all
The spirit battles the flesh
And now my wounds are deep
and torn wide open
I'm tired and weary, hurt and broken down

Lead - us - not
Into temptation
But - deliver - us
From the evil one
Darkness - falls
On my spirit again
Again - temptation - calls
I can hear it!

As the battle rages on and on
I face the things that put my faith to the test
When fallen angels won't leave me alone
Father, come and lay the demon to rest
When my sword has broken off in my hand
I see the dark futility of the flesh
When I'm about to fall, please help me stand
Father, come and lay the demon to rest!

They're on my back!
I run, but I can feel their talons
digging in my flesh
Blood trickles down upon the earth
And I grow weaker with each breath!
Each time I shake one off
another wraps its teeth around my neck
And every time, the one, the thorn is there
To tear me down again!

The angels counterstrike-
Their flaming swords slice through
the fallen ones
The demons reunite, attack again
The cycle has begun:
Caught in the middle of this present darkness
with nowhere to run,
We're in a holy war,
As it is written, so shall it be done..

Where there's a will, there's a way, they say
But sometimes my will seems to get in the way
So You will have to fight for me today...

As the battle rages on and on
I face the things that put my faith to the test
When fallen angels won't leave me alone
Father, come and lay the demon to rest
When my sword has broken off in my hand
I see the dark futility of the flesh
When I'm about to fall, please help me stand
Father, come and lay the demon to rest!"

One of the best electronic-classical crossover songs I've heard. Leave it to Helmut Vonlichten to take one of my least favorite genres of music and successfully mix it with one of my favorite genres. :P

My Les Friction CD arrived in the mail today. I'm a bit confused, as I was under the impression that included both the instrumental versions, and the versions with their vocalist, but it only includes the ones with their vocalist. I sent them a message, maybe that will clarify for me.

I usually run Winamp in the background for most of the things I do on my laptop, it does help keep me flowing I've noticed.
