Bots don't post? How :0?
« on: February 09, 2013, 10:45:44 pm »
Hey SMFNew Staff,
I believe you guys have a lot of bots registered on the forum. And yet only one or two bots spam. How? Like I'm not saying that it's a bad thing. It's not. But how don't they? Like my website is filled with spam. And I let every registered person post.

I know the reason why our free forums aren't filled with spam is due to our innovative anti-spam technology. Being that this forum is on the Pro server, that may be the reason why so many are able to register. I've noticed this massive amount of bots for months now, but we can't seem to find why such masses sign up but rarely post. :P

I've recently been taking about one day a week to comb through a long list of newly-registered users, and I ban them if their IPs and emails show up in known spam lists or if they show common signs of being spambots. However, I'm one guy, and they're signing up faster than I can ban most of them. :P

I wish the bots can "share" forums. As in they come to mine (if my website needs bots LOL) and mine go away. Then I won't need to care. But thanks anyways. :p :)

I just wish I got the same bots that you guys got. Apparently the bots that I got on my website spam a lot. So if my website is in the list of the websites getting spammed I just wish I had the same bots as you guys. :p

Ohh, I see. I thought you were asking for spam on your forum, to which I would have responded with "Are you crazy?". ;)

Oh, well, I don't have bots posting on my forum so I didn't think they could post. :P

Most free forums are free from spam as well, as the entire free network has our innovative anti-spam programme. However, since this forum is on the Pro server, and all of the free mods/themes are uninstalled on Pro Hosting, that's a possibility why we get so many registrations on this forum specifically.

I though PRO Hosting was supposed to be better. :(

Pro hosting is better. The end user would install there own mods to stop spam bots, this is the difference with pro, you have full control on the mods that you want/need, we don't dictate to you what you can and can't install.

The support forum does not have any mods installed, that's why some bots can register.
