News Archive / SMF 1.1.13 and SMF 2 RC 5
« on: February 13, 2011, 08:06:21 am »
Hello,

We have upgraded all SMF 1 forums to SMF 1.1.13.

We have also upgraded all SMF 2 forums to SMF 2 RC 4 PATCHED.

We will NOT be upgrading SMF 2 forums to SMF 2 RC 5 unless the release of SMF 2 Gold takes longer than expected. There are a few bug fixes in this version, and SMF 2 Gold is expected to be released soon. To save time, and turning SMF 2 forums offline while we upgrade, we've decided not to upgrade. We'll go straight to SMF 2 Gold when thats released.

However, we are running the patched version of SMF 2, so the secuirty flaws were patched, as per the following thread:

Hello,

We are currently in the process of moving around databases to a new addon server, to help reduce the "Too many posts" page.

What does this mean for you?

Your forum will remain unchanged, you will not notice anything, apart from this page for a couple of minutes in the next few days:

Thank you!

News Archive / The SMF 2 RC 4 FAQ Thread
« on: January 29, 2011, 12:13:37 pm »
Hello,

We upgrade all SMF 2 RC 3 forums to SMF 2 RC 4 on Sunday, 30th January 2011. This thread has been created to answer most of your questions which you may have.

Q) All my member are complaining they are using the default theme

We were forced to drop many themes because the author did not update them to support SMF 2 RC 4. The following themes were dropped:
  • ModernDark64
  • Loner
  • Intimidator
  • Impulse2
  • Curve Solution
  • Curve Soft
  • LightModern

Therefore, we have reverted every forum to use the default theme until you change the settings (Admin -> Themes -> Default Theme), to avoid confusion.

Q) So you deleted 7 themes, but we only had 12 to play with!

Yes, we deleted 7 themes, but we added 25 new themes. They are:
  • Black RainV.3 by, Crip
  • Clear Mind
  • Curve Minimal Multicolor
  • DarkBreak by DzinerStudio
  • Dino Light v.2 - by zutzu
  • DarkModern by Crip
  • Flagrant by Crip
  • Inferno by DzinerStudio
  • X-Mas by DzinerStudio
  • Cargo by DzinerStudio
  • DsV1 theme designed by DzinerStudio
  • DSv4 by DzinerStudio
  • Express by DzinerStudio
  • IceCube by DzinerStudio
  • Indigo theme by DzinerStudio
  • laGusta by DzinerStudio
  • My Lee - by zutzu
  • Noize by DzinerStudio
  • Presence - by Skinmod
  • Scratch Design by DzinerStudio
  • Skm Night - by zutzu
  • Surf&Turf by DzinerStudio
  • Twitter Color - by zutzu
  • Urban by DzinerStudio
  • Zone99

You can view these themes at www.smfnew.com/more/themes.
We bought the premium themes from DzinerStudio, which you can use. Enjoy ;)!

Q) What about modifications?
Simple portal was upgraded to 2.3.3
Team page was re-installed.

Q) Why can't I upgrade my SMF 1.1.12 forum to SMF 2 anymore?

I have not yet finished the upgrade for this, please wait a few days for it to be enabled again.

News Archive / SMF 2 RC 3 Themes To be DROPPED
« on: January 07, 2011, 04:13:40 pm »
The following themes will no longer be supported by SMFNEW if you use SMF 2.

ModernDark64 is no longer supported by SMF 2 RC 4, and the author has decided to remove it from the SMF site, making it impossible for us to use this theme.
Loner is no longer supported by SMF 2 RC 4, and the author has decided to remove it from the SMF site, making it impossible for us to use this theme.
Intimidator is no longer supported by SMF 2 RC 4, and the author has decided to remove it from the SMF site, making it impossible for us to use this theme.
Impulse2 is no longer supported by SMF 2 RC 4, and the author has decided to remove it from the SMF site, making it impossible for us to use this theme.
Curve Solution is no longer supported by SMF 2 RC 4, and the author has decided to remove it from the SMF site, making it impossible for us to use this theme.
Curve Soft is no longer supported by SMF 2 RC 4, and the author has decided to remove it from the SMF site, making it impossible for us to use this theme.
LightModern is no longer supported by SMF 2 RC 4, and the author has decided to remove it from the SMF site, making it impossible for us to use this theme.

There were template code changes from SMF 2 RC 3 -> SMF 2 RC 4. As the themes above are not supported by the author, they will not working on SMF 2 RC 4. So don't hold us responsible!

This comes as we finalize the SMF upgrade on SMFNEW. We will replace these themes with others, that you have required.

We will let you know when we will upgrade, thus, when the themes will be dropped.

Thanks,
Matt.

Hello,

It has come to our attention that users think we offer support by email. This is not correct, as you can clearly observe at www.smfnew.com/contact.php.

We will ignore all support related emails - this is why we have this forum - to provide support.

Thanks,
Matt

News Archive / SMF 1.1.12 AND SMF RC 4
« on: November 24, 2010, 05:58:30 pm »
Hello,

I have just upgraded all SMF 1.1.11 forums to SMF 1.1.12. Please report any issues.

SMF RC4 upgrade is being held back to the lack of updates to modifications and themes to support RC4. I will wait another 2 weeks, to let the authors update them, them then I will proceed to upgrade the forums from SMF RC3 - We're all ready our end to upgrade them to SMF 2 RC 4, just waiting for the themes and mods to become compatible.

If they are not updated within 2 weeks, we will be forced to not support that specific feature until it's upgraded. Don't stress about running RC3, it's nothing to worry about being behind RC4. No new features in RC4, just bug fixes, which no one has even reported here - so you wouldn't notice.

Thanks again.

News Archive / Support Forum Upgraded (Kind of..)
« on: November 12, 2010, 02:08:10 pm »
Hello,

I upgraded the support forum tonight to RC4. There are a couple of problems, such as, package manager not installing mods.

I plan on getting SMF to help fix these issues, they were unexpected, therefore, I am forced to use the default theme and be without any modifications.

Thanks

News Archive / SMF RC4 and SMF 1.1.12 News
« on: November 01, 2010, 03:26:17 pm »
Hello,

Simple Machines have released SMF RC4 and SMF 1.1.12.

We WILL be upgrading ALL forums to these versions, so if your running 1.1.11, we'll upgrade you to 1.1.12, if your running RC3, we will upgrade you to RC 4.

For the most import question of, WHEN?

It depends. We are currently working on the server for stability issues, which you may be aware of. We want to wait until that is done before causing an extra load of upgrading 30,000 forums.

We will hope to have the server finished by Friday. If that is the case, then forums will be upgraded THIS weekend, RC3 being upgraded before 1.1.11.

If the server takes longer, I will update this post letting you know the date the upgrade will be pushed back to.

Thanks,
Matt.

News Archive / MyBBnew Update - Syncing Templates
« on: September 04, 2010, 07:46:58 am »
Hello,

MyBBnew has been updated, introducing a new feature.

Sync Templates
By syncing your forum templates, the following actions will take place:
  • All your current templates, stylesheets and themes will be removed
  • New templates, themes and stylesheets will be imported to your forum

We periodically update the 'master' templates to include fixes and version updates. We often install new templates, which will be installed on your forum when you sync your templates.

Find this option on the left navigation bar when you login to your administration panel.

Thanks.

News Archive / Users Spamming Notice
« on: June 30, 2010, 01:55:34 pm »
Hello,

It is unfortunate that I am having to make this topic; we have noticed a dramatic rise in the number of users spamming support topics. To provide the BEST support that we can, it makes our job harder to read and respond to support topics which have effectively been hi-jacked by other users. If you did not create the topic, you do not need to respond unless you want to help.

Therefore, giving your opinion on a theme, or opinion on a forum or replying with 'I don't know' is going to make our jobs more difficult. Users doing so are directly violating our regulations, set forth in our rules thread.

Consequently, to curb spammer and thread hi-jackers, we are going to begin enforcing stricter rules in the support board. We did not want to do this, but we have no choice as our jobs are becoming more difficult as users decide to spam support threads. We are having to search the thread for the problem that is in question.

Until now, we would usually delete offending posts. However, we will now begin to warn every post that is made which is considered by staff as spamming or hi-jacking a support thread.

Thank you for your co-operation.
