Hello,
With the new year, SMFNew 2 (http://www.support.smfnew.com/index.php?topic=9383.0), and our continual growth, we're doubling our efforts to create the best experience we can. In 2014 and beyond, we hope to expand our support, advocate, and video-making teams so we can achieve this goal.
As a work-from-home and not-for-profit hosting group, all positions are voluntary, as all funding is needed to keep this service free for everyone. The team positions are not paid, but we do offer incentives similar to length of service awards, including internal promotion, and for longer-serving team members, free Ultimate Hosting (http://www.smfnew.com/pro/). That being said, there are a few things we're looking for in staff members, as shown below.

What we're looking for...
- A passion for helping others, and a friendly, professional attitude
- Fluent in the English language and proper grammar usage
- A strong background in using the SMF software and knowledge on hosting processes
- Experience in using SMFNew
What they do...
Support specialists are experienced users who prove themselves to be friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Support specialists aid in providing top-of-the-line support by answering support questions people post on our support forum. They regularly check in to the forum, and work together with other support specialists to ensure that every question is answered quickly, efficiently, and completely. Additionally, they have moderation powers and are also tasked with keeping the community in order on the forum- they can move, lock, and sticky topics, and they have the ability to take action against bad behavior.

If you're interested in joining our support team, please PM Jacob F (Support Team Mentor), including the answers to the following questions:
- What previous experience with SMF and SMFNew do you have?
- In your opinion, how well do you work with others?
- On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your fluency in English, as well as your grammar skills?
- Are you willing/able to check in to the support forum and provide support at least once every two weeks?
- How long have you been using SMFNew?
- Are you able to sacrifice time, particularly in busy times, to help ensure we provide top-of-the-line support?
- Are you willing to work together with other support specialists, and let the Support Team Mentor teach you how to meet our standards of support?
- How long do you hope/plan to stay with the team?

- SMFNew Advocate -
What we're looking for...
- A friendly, professional attitude
- Excellent fluency in the English language (fluencies in other languages a plus), and excellent grammar skills
- Excellent connections outside of SMFNew
- A passion for SMFNew and spreading the word
- Willingness to tell any and everyone the word about SMFNew and SMFNew 2.0
- Willingness to work together with other advocates and keep the SMFNew management team updated on what you're doing
What they do...
SMFNew Advocates are essentially staff members who go out and promote SMFNew to communities and people around the internet, telling others what makes SMFNew so great and unique. They ensure that people know about the service and why we are the right choice for forum hosting.

Video Maker
What we're looking for...
- A friendly attitude
- Excellent English verbal communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- A strong knowledge of SMFNew and HTML/CSS
- Good video capture and editing software (doesn't have to be professional software; merely must be powerful enough to create nice-looking and high quality videos)
- Excellent video editing skills
- A passion for helping others
What they do...
Video makers are part of our new tutorial video-making initiative (http://www.support.smfnew.com/index.php?topic=9412.0). They create high-quality tutorial videos that easily explain a variety of features in their videos (as per request by the community), and they work together to ensure their videos are concise, explanatory, and easy-to-understand.

- How often do you expect to be able to create tutorial videos?
- Will you keep the SMFNew management team (admins and team mentors/leaders) up-to-date on your actions, and will you submit your videos to them before posting them publicly?
- How long do you hope/expect to be with the SMFNew team?

This is merely a way for us to know who is interested, and it will allow us, as a team, to determine who we think would be a great addition to the team.
