Any word on this yet?

oops I tried to edit my post but I quoted myself because I hit "Quote" instead of "Modify". How do I delete an accidental double post?  (I always edit because I am dyslexic and catch spelling mistakes and bad grammar a lot. Firefox red underlining only helps so much).

You will more than likely always see errors in the logs because of how the system is set up, You have nothing to worry about

I've been a tad sloppy on how the forum creation works. When you create the forum, the latest member, is undefined in the settings, so SMF throws up errors in the error log.

Is this still happening?

I just checked out what the MyBBNEW looks like by going to the Demo forum you have and I noticed that there is a LOT of link spam as old as the beginning of April and yet no one is removing it. I was surprised since the reason I came to this site was because I heard how anti-spam SMFNEW was and assumed that MyBBNEW would be the same way.

Since there is so much spam allowed to remain on the demo forum, does that mean that MyBBNEW is not as anti-spam as SMFNEW is?

and one spammer alone (all baisr) has posted such obvious spam that it tells me that no one is moderating it at all to keep the forum clean..

I have a vision to make a fun place for people who are in the hospital a lot hooked to a dialysis machine 3 times a week with needles literally 15 gauge in size. That is why when I had to choose a name I chose Kidney Chat n Games. I want to make a place for them to take their minds off paid.

I tried to ask on these forums BEFORE getting a forum but wasn't able to ask if there was chat and arcade because of the bug mentioned in this thread: http://www.support.smfnew.com/index.php?topic=6231.msg33595#msg33595

So it comes down to that if I can't provide that for them with this forum, I will just go somewhere else which I already have 1 other option.  However I would prefer staying here if the chat and arcade is implemented as I like where you stand on fighting spam. The other forum option I have (also SMF but does offer a type of shoutbox and a full arcade with choice of games for free) tends to not fight against spam like you guys do and does NOT have really any security options except the defaults.  I am impressed with SMFnew and would like to be here. Sure I am good at keeping my forums clean but it is nice to know that a host has your back ya know?


Edit: Also thinking about the font size and might put in a request for something like that but need to search SMF mods to see. Also I didn't want to request too much and decided to wait to see if these get approved first.

Its because its a default group, just rename newbie to lurker which is set to 0 post count.  Then create a new group called Newbie and set the post count to 1.

Has for the pm i will have a look into this but i do believe you can only limit the amount of pm's sent in 24hrs.

Also the whole reason I came here is 100% solely because of the security that detects spammers. That is what impressed me. I have never met a free host that actually cares as much about keeping members safe as I do I have come across another forum (a phpbb3 one) that actually has a scam advertisement at the end of registration! It is amazing the kind of free forum hosts that are out there with total disregard to keeping members safe. However SMFNew impresses me!

None of them were what I was looking for (some great ones for a gaming forum though) as I was looking for one easy on the eyes for members who have bad eye sight, so I settled on Twitter Color. 

I am having an issue with Post count based groups  that I need help with.

I created a group for members who have not posted yet .. set to 0 posts.

Then I went to edit the Newbit member group, also set to 0.

Only to discover there is no option for changing the post count of that group and I can't remove it. So I am a bit confused.

I wanted to change Newbie to 1 post requirement. I want to do this for security reasons so that people who don't post (perhaps only joining to add spam to their profiles which I do not want them then) would not have the ability to mass private message members (I would like it if I could set it to only be able to PM admin and not other members if they have never posted) incase they were attempted to send spam in PM.

I feel that setting it so that they are limited til they make one post not only encourages them to post an introduction but also helps me decide who are real members and who are spammers before they ever get the chance to spam publicly. (I am aware that there is a setting to see the posts before they are posted but I have not found that setting yet).

Anyway so currently BOTH newbie and lurker are 0 post based. I want Newbie to be 1 post based.

I am not sure if it just isn't available or broken but I see the option so I assumed it is available but when I choose one and install it it does not install.

Except that when I do I still have the default installed and the new ones aren't even in the list of ones I can choose.

Is this just an over sight (meaning the option should not even be there as it is not available for free accounts) or did I break something?

Game mods are never called hacks in the gaming world. If he is advertising as hacks I would suggest that the admin does a search on his email and IP to see if there are any matches to any complaints just to be sure. You will never hear of a game saying they allow hacks.. and mods are called third party mods .. not hacks.
