Hi guys,
Just wondering about the significant amount of downtime that recently occurred?
Nice to see the forum back up again though.

Kris

I am just wondering if there is info around here pertaining how to tell if a user is legitimate or not. I have had a few sign up and post gibberish or links to external sites I do not want on my forum so I have deleted them.
With the track user option I am not really sure what to look for to determine if I should delete their account(s) or not.
Thanks in advance,
Kris

Mathematics Support ForumI am looking to give a moderator permission to embed music on my forum using the iframe code and html <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h8MAHQhKe7Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Is this possible? If so how? As an administrator I can do this but need to know how to change the settings to give this moderator permission. Thanks, Kris

I am wondering if there is a way to add post based group info to the user info block. I want to keep Administrator on there but also have Gold Member for example within the block.
Thanks, Kris

www.nwia.smfnew.comHi all, I am just looking for some advice/input on whether or not to add a music board to my forum. I am still debating about whether to add a general music board and embed all types of music in there or to simply add subject specific audio/video section to keep with the main theme (education) of my forum. All thoughts are appreciated. Thanks, Kris

Hi, I thought I had posted a link to my site here some time ago but couldn't find it so thought I'd post it now. Mathematics Education and SupportThis originally started out as a means for me to support students during exam and test time. I decided to change that to a General Mathematics support forum instead as a place for educators and other like minded individuals to converse. I may end up going with Pro Hosting in the future as it may require space to upload documents but that will not be anytime soon. It is still a work in progress (e.g. The home tab) Kris

www.nwia.smfnew.comHi Guys, Thanks for the great support thus far. My problem: I have both a "Home" and "Forum" tab at the top of my forum. In the home section the top block and the one to the right of it are lined up. See HERE where the site menu and recent posts blocks are aligned. See HERE where "user info" and "introductions" are not aligned. Essentially I want to either bring the left block down or the category block up to align them both. I do realize that on the home tab I am dealing with 2 blocks that I created while in the home tab I am creating the left blocks. Thanks, Kris

Hi all, Forum Url: www.nwia.smfnew.comSmf: 2.0.1 SP: 2.3.3 I am wondering if there are converters available for smf and sp which will keep the integrity of things such as algebraic expressions, equations and other mathematical numbers and symbols. I am looking to copy and paste some of the things I have previously developed in Microsoft Word (for example) into posts on my forum. I had run into a similar issue previously when copying and pasting from my pdf documents and went back and fixed all the little errors (from some science stuff) but mathematics copying and pasting is much more complex. The more complex equations seem to be the most problematic (e.g. quadratic equations). I also lose a good many images as well when trying to do this. I could always post them as attachments but that takes up a lot of space or I guess I could provide links to an online storage space where I would have dumped the documents but that is a bit of a pain. Thanks, Kris

Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone here mods or admins at the simple portal site. I have signed up for an account several days ago but have not received email verification as of yet. I do have a free hosting forum here www.nwia.smfnew.com but have it in maintenance mode at the moment until I return to work in the fall. Just looking to join the simple portal forum as well. Regards, Kris

While I haven't had a smfnew forum for very long I have posted a number of questions that have perplexed me at times. Having said that I do tend at times to jump the gun and post questions before actually taking the time to search for and read what others have written. A number of times I have found the answer before support staff have answered my question(s). The times I have been unable to find an answer the support staff here have been fantastic in either providing me with solutions up front or directing me to where the information can be found. I would encourage members to try and learn as much as they can by reading first and asking questions later. However, the support here is second to none and I am sure you will find that they are helpful and accommodating. Their support is generally very quick but sometimes those of us who encounter issues may get a bit overwhelmed and be looking for immediate answers.
I guess I am saying thanks to smfnew and the support team for providing a great free service and outstanding support to your valued members. I learn something new everytime I log in here.
Regards, Kris

www.nwia.smfnew.comI have added a news block to my forum. When I enter text into the news section it shows up on both the newly added block and to the top of the page right beneath my avatar. I want the news to only show in the news block. How can I do this? Kris

www.nwia.smfnew.comWondering if it possible to add membergroups in the users online section?? I have done this before with other portals but there was a custom headers/footers section available which I don't see as an option here. I have attached a picture if you need to see what I am talking about. Kris

www.nwia.smfnew.comHey guys, Looked around a bit and couldn't find the answer to this. My forum is a student help forum so I am looking to make posts that contain numbers with their powers. For example, 10 to the power of 7. Is there a way to do this within a post? If so how? Thanks, Kris

www.nwia.smfnew.comI just added an HTML Block and want to place links to my "Friends of the Forum" block. I have figured out that I can put one link in there by <a+href=Enter Site Name Here>Name of Link</a> (omit the + though). The problem I have is entering a second link; rather than place the link below in the block it puts it to the right of the first link I entered. How can I place it below the existing link? In doing this I would like to set the link to open in a new tab or page rather than opening in the existing page? Thanks in advance. Kris

Just wondering if Simple Portal is the only one available from SMFNEW? Or can we choose which one we might like to use on our forum?
Just a thought/question.

Hi all,
Forum: nwia.smfnew.com
Just decided to start another forum. I currently have one with another free host but am going to do something quite different with this one. I am going to set this up for use as part of my classroom (I am a teacher). My goal is to have a classroom that uses as little paper as possible for next year. So I am going to use this as a place for my students to find information, converse with each other and a way for me to evaluate some of their questions and the answers they provide to each other. There will also be accounts for the other junior/senior high teachers at my school as several others have expressed an interest in trying to make this work as well.
