About Homepage.
« on: October 11, 2015, 04:54:21 am »
I tried to create at homepage something that shows the new about my forum and etc. like that : http://imgur.com/fokwvwu :
Well at the start it was succeed and it transfared to forum. " http://imgur.com/5wDku9M " That was what I wanted. Additionally at the home page was nothing. " http://imgur.com/KXJSmWj ".
Well my question is? How can I put at homepage like that " http://imgur.com/WbromOR " Without touching anything else like forums one and etc. As you can see in the last SS at changelog I want to write new things and etc. Well how can I do that?

You would need to create ezBlocks and set the visibility permissions so they can only be seen on the portal homepage.

To do this, you would need to head to the ezBlock Manager section under the EzPortal subsection in the Admin Panel. If you have ezBlocks that already exist which you'd like to show up on the homepage, select the Edit option on that block; otherwise, you'd need to create a new ezBlock.

Inside the edit menu, you should see an option, a link near the bottom that says "Update Visible Options" next to the text that says "Visible Areas". Select that link. Once inside this menu, you should see a list of various checkboxes that allow you to select which pages on which the blocks will show up. Select the options you want, then select "Save Visible Settings". It should show up on the pages/actions that you selected now, but sometimes it doesn't appear right away. If this happens to you, try signing out, clear your cookies/cache, then sign back in. It should appear properly after that.

Anyways, I hope that helped! Feel free to let us know if that doesn't work. :)

As I made this post, Imgur is overloaded so I couldn't see the picture, but we are indeed always looking for opportunities to make new videos. I'll come back later and try to access the photo again and we'll see what we can do for you. :)

Ok, the image seems to be working fine now. For something like that, you'd need to add the Board News ezBlock and place it in the Center column. Once you get into the menu for that ezBlock, in the field labeled "Select Board for News", select the board whose topics you want to appear on the homepage. In this menu, you can customize different parts of this block, including how many posts from that board you'd like to appear in the block. You can also limit the number of characters from those posts that will appear on the homepage (this is recommended) to limit overcrowding the homepage. The user can visit the thread directly to read the whole post. Additionally, make sure you check the checkboxes under the Permissions submenu for the groups you want to be able to view this block.

I hope that helps. :) As always, if you're still having trouble, feel free to let us know.

Well, if you want it to work like the screenshots you provided, you'd need to create topics in the board you selected in the ezBlock's options menu. :)

Well the board which I made is News 'n' Updates. Then I made a topic in there and lock it
After that I went to ezblock manager > Center >Add ezblock >chose "News 'n' Updates" >Update visible boards > Chose Portal Homepage. Then I saved it

Now it appears in homepage the title of that but it doesn't show anything about what I wrote in a topic. Idk where I should choose topic :/

Hmm, did you limit the post characters to show up on the homepage? If so, have you tried creating a new post in the board after you created the ezBlock? It could be that the board only counts new posts in that board.
