I totally understand about funding the hosting, and if the ads weren't so intrusive (altering my post titles, and changing members links) it really wouldn't have been a problem. A banner or ads at the top of the page, the bottom or even sides wouldn't have bothered us. So yep maybe this would be something you could sort for future forum hosts.

Thanks again guys, your free forum software is actually amazing with so many great features. I will be sad to leave :(

Thanks for the reply Jacob, but to be fair I don't need half of the stuff that you're offering, and $15 a month just for no ads, is out of my price league, plus I don't have total control. To know that if I can't afford the credits one month then my forum content is going to be altered for your ads to display is not something that I want.

I appreciate your time, and thanks for the replies.

So its a no on the database then. Never mind, I will start from scratch. I cannot commit to the amount you want for pro hosting pm. I don't need classified ads, or downloads, or mass email. And I have already purchased the smiley pack.

What changes.... you are very vague with your replies, and I'm getting the feeling that you really don't want to help.

Ok i need to head off to bed.... If... the sql database will transfer all of my posts and boards over to a new install of SMF then I will pay the $50. But I need some kind of reassurance that it will work. If not, then I'm sorry its not worth it.

Ok so back to the previous question. Will my sql file work with a fresh install of SMF?

Not sure what you mean opt out of the shopping pages? This link from viglink  has taken over a members signature link... its his own link and not an affiliate link.

I really am gutted about this... I'm not moaning at you guys, but I cant have ad revenue links taking over my members links... its not on really. I loved this hosting, but unfortunately not at that cost, I love my members more.

So it wouldn't work uploading it to an SMF forum then?

How do you mean 'modified'?

I don't suppose you would be willing to release my SQL database would you? If so is there a fee involved?

Well I don't mind the ads appearing at the top of the pages, but to physically change my content isn't really acceptable.
I don't believe there is anywhere in the registration agreement that states members agreeing to having their posts and links altered.
Not impressive really.

Ok, not sure why.... but as well as adding links to my topic titles, this ad software in now also taking over links that my members have in their sigs!!

A mod maker on my forum, has this link in his sig https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/vapesmarter
Yep when I click on it, it take me here  http://www.viglink.com/shop/query/shop%2Cvapesmarter

My forum is being literally highjacked by viglink!! Can something please be done about this?

The old forum that I used to work on was an SMF one, so I know its slightly different. Its just kind of annyoing on here that theres some things that I can't control, lol. Although a lot of aspects are tons better! I would need to carefully weight things up.

Its like since the ads kicked in, the bad word sensor has kicked in too.... and for some reason I can't find it to alter it. I have a board called VapePorn, which is nothing bad, just images of vape mods, and coils... but now its called Vape**** and looks kind of
ridiculous! lol
*Actually I have found it, and there are no words in there, so not sure why why my board topic is being starred out?
**modified again, the **** if I click on it, takes me to this place http://ceekaysvapeshack.createaforum.com/upgrades.php I'm assuming that the ads really shouldn't be kicking in on my post titles?

Can you let me know if you can add that tabs mod, so I can have drop down tab menus please?

Thanks for the reply.
Ok the ads are for viglink.com, funnily enough the one I just clicked on my phone worked. But the ones myself and other members clicked on pc seem to come back with 'not found' or similar. So it might be something you want to look at.

What I actually want adding is a mod to allow drop down menu's on the tabs we can add at the top. I did find one over on SMF called 6custombuttons05, just in case you wanted to see if its possible to add on here.

3 & 4 , this will give me a way forward in the future depending on if we ever get more members, and my work situation, having just been made redundant (hence making the forum for the old members) means that I can't commit to any monthly fee's at present. But it definitely is a way forward, maybe with SMF as I like the idea of managing most of it myself, with your hosting. Would there be a way to take all of the posts made on the forum now and transfer them over? I do understand that this would incur a fee.

Morning fella's, got a couple of questions for you this morning.

1. The ads kicked in last night at the top of my forum, not that I mind but, the ads are totally pointless, the link they take you to says the items cannot be found so I doubt they are making SMFNew2 much ad revenue.

2. Can SMF mods be added to my forum? I can't see a way of doing it, but just wondered if you guys could?

3 Pro hosting - What happened to it?

4 Last but not least, If (and its a very huge 'if') my forum took off in a big way, which is doubtful as there are too many out there, and say I wanted to transfer to SMF with web hosting, could I take all of my forum with me, as in, is there a way to back up and restore it?

Many thanks.

Thanks both, I'm pretty sure most of my members connect from home or via their cell networks. Can you update me if you manage to find a fix or workaround for this please.

While I'm here, what happened to the pro hosting that Ive seen mentioned, when I click on the link now it says page not found.

Morning guys, just wondered if theres anything that can be done about the insecure password warning that we seem to be getting. I'm also getting it on Firefox now as well as google chrome and I have a feeling it could be off putting for members.

This morning when I went on my forum it had logged me out and a new page in firefox opened up with this warning:
Insecure password warning in Firefox Firefox will display a lock icon with red strike-through red strikethrough icon in the address bar when a login page you’re viewing does not have a secure connection. This is to inform you that if you enter your password it could be stolen by eavesdroppers and attackers.
Starting in Firefox version 52, you will also see a warning message when you click inside the login box to enter a username or password.

Obviously this is going to be quite scary for some members, Can anything be done? Thanks in advance.
