You can install a copy of your database on another webhost, but it would cost a one-time fee of $56.
Alright, that wouldn't be a problem.

Do know that the recent downtime won't be of issue in the future - it was to help fix potential future speed issues.
That's good to hear.

Yea, I was just asking this because I was curious if it would even be possible, for the case we ever decide to move it all to one place.
Thanks alot for your fast response. :)

Support / Database Question
« on: August 31, 2012, 11:59:12 am »
Hello guys,

I am not sure if this is the right section to post, please excuse me if I'm wrong.

What I would like to ask:
I have recently received a Webhost, and I saw that it is possible to download the SMF (http://download.simplemachines.org/). Is it possible that I install this on my Webhost, and receive a database copy of my current smfnew forum from you guys, which I can insert into my database then, which means I won't lose any posts/PMs/users by moving the forum to my own Webhost. Is that possible?

Thanks for your help.

Greetings,

Alright. I will try this within the next days. Thanks so far. I will leave a message again when I've tested it, and/or got it working.

Thanks!

Sorry to let you wait.

And on your last question - I'm not exactly sure what you're saying. Could you clarify? :)
I ment, are there any features that are not available anymore. I have for example the SMF Default Theme - Core Theme which I would like to keep. Will this still be available?

Oh, I just came to an idea:
Would it be possible to register a completely new forum, which is on 2.0 then and test it there, if I can change the shoutbox?
After testing the test-forum can be deleted/dropped.
Possible?

A new account might make a difference, but the chances are that your account isn't the issue.
In the next days I will receive my newly bought Laptop so I will try to add a new account and I will also try a friends connection.

Upgrading to SMF 2 also could solve the issue. SMF 2 is more recommended - it's much more smooth, modern, organized, and it has more features. :)
Let's imagine I will upgrade to SMF 2.
What are the changes? Will I keep the forum's posts/stats/accounts/etc...?
Can I keep the current design or will it be unavailable?
Will it affect anything that will be not available afterwards?

Thanks! :D

(That is if you have version 2.0.1. If you have an SMF 1.x forum, then the Default Theme would be the Core theme)
I have the SMF Default Theme - Core. That's the best style ever. ^^

Also try using the another browser, i.e. if your using IE try FireFox and vice versa.
Tested with IE and FireFox. Both do not show this middle box.

If you prefer you can private message me with a temporary Admin account to see if its any different for me, just manually register a new user, put them in the Administrator Group and forward the username and password to me.
I tested it with two different PCs already (one from a friend's house). Would a new account make any difference?

Also worth noting from your user profile it would suggest your using SMF version 1, where I am seeing the settings using version 2.
At bottom of the forum it says: Powered by SMF 1.1.15
Would upgrading make any difference or would it change/reset anything on the forum?

=> Still can't see the Display Options.

Hi RiSKOSD,

I tried both of the things you stated. I changed the block various times and I changed the Theme to some others. I could never see Display Options inbetween. :'(

Thanks, but I don't have this option when I click the wrench icon.
I have:

Type:    Shoutbox
Name:
Block Permissions:
Permission Settings:
Shoutbox to Display:
Not Collapsible:
Active:

And then
Style Options below.

Can't find "Show Block On".

Hello SMFNew-Team,

Since the other topic (http://www.support.smfnew.com/index.php?topic=7873.msg40914#msg40914) is already locked, I had to start a new one.
I have now added such a Shoutbox, Thank you, but it is now set on the 'Portal' Page (Home). Is it possible to show it on the 'Forum' Page (Forum)?

Currently here: http://www.ugpforum.smfnew.com/index.php
Can it be here: http://www.ugpforum.smfnew.com/index.php?action=forum

Thanks for your help.

Happy Easter! :)

Hello SMFNew-Team,

I recently saw that all our PHP Pages on our forums are not working anymore due to this message appearing:
Quote
php pages not allowed

I can still add PHP Pages and edit them, but I can't view them anymore. Why does this happen and can it be fixed?

Thanks for your help.

Kind Regards,

Thanks. Too bad.

Can the e-mail be changed? Or is there any other way how we can get new Rank Images to our forum?

Hello!

We have a little problem on our Forum. Some time ago the system of Uploading the Rank Images was changed. You have to login with the e-mail and the password from the creator of the forum now.
Since the creator of our Forum is not active anymore, we cannot upload any Rank Images.

Is it possible/allowed to upload them from another Forum and then insert them at our Forum?

Regards,

I have also voted for 'It loads instantly', because I have to wait about 1/2 second until the page is loaded which is extremly good.

Thanks alot to the SMFNEW-Team.
