I've never tried phpbb, but SMF is great, so I'm gonna go with that.

I like SMF a lot. phpBB frustrates me with all the unnecessary clicking (click to post, click to proceed, click to log out of the ACP, click again to go back to the forum, etc. etc. etc.), plus its Email notifications often bring up a blank browser window in my experience.

I have tried SMF and phpBB, but I find SMF MUCH better/easier to use than phpBB.

I like phpbb, but SMF is better.

reason is that for me, maybe not for others, SMF ACP is easier for Begginers and good to use. Phpbb is good with the theme's and acp is abit hard for me..
So thats why i like smf better but i still like phpbb
