[SMFNEW] Creating your own custom page
« on: July 14, 2010, 07:22:11 am »
This is a tutorial on how to create your very own fully customizable page via the Simpleportal modification.

Admin - Simpleportal - Pages - Add page

This will now bring up a page displaying the information below;

Title
This will be the title of your page aswell as the name of the tab for the internet browser you are using.

Page ID
You can type the name of the link into here, for example; tester

Your link will then be displayed as, http://www.YOURURL.smfnew.com/index.php?page=tester

Type
There will be up to 3 boxes here (maybe 2). It is STRONGLY recommended that you DO NOT use Html unless you have good knowledge of it as simple mistakes can cost you, your forum. I recommend using BBCoding as it's simple and most of you will have a good knowledge of it.

Permissions/Permission settings
Here you can set the permissions for who can see the page.

Active
Make sure this box is ticked as the page will not be activated otherwise, If you ever want to disable a page but not delete it then simply untick this box.

Body
Here is where you enter all your coding for the page. Here is an example to start you off;

Code: [Select]

Hello and welcome to your first page! I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and found it easy to follow and i hope you have fun creating your newly found pages!

Now to get to your page you will need to use the following structure for a URL;

{YOURWEBSITE}/index.php?page={YOURPAGEID}

E.g.

If i used "tester" as my Page ID then i would follow this link;

http://www.smfnew.com/index.php?page=tester

I hope this helped and i hope you have lots of fun creating your new pages!
