Title: how do i stop getting spam on my site?
Post by: bargain-web-templates on September 07, 2007, 11:31:22 am: i have banned the users,but no doubt they will come back, i keep getting numerous porn spam how can i stop it(also i deleted there posts)

yeah i think i switched that on now and i blocked the users too,so hopefully it shud stop them or at leats not get so many

Or you can turn admin validation on.

hell,even log into my forums yourself if you want and do whats necesssary i just want to get rid of these damn porn spammers!its not very welcoming to visitors

Post by: Aaron on September 08, 2007, 06:20:02 pm: It will be under 'general admin' and the click 'configuration'. You will see email activation, just click either admin or user validation. If this doesnt solve the problem post back here.

but, ive stopped getting the emails saying "new account" matt can u help on this 1 plz?

but i still get them, allways from oponros.com, im sick of it.

then cant post cos they dont get activated til i click the link in the email i dont get!!:confused:

Anyway, just stick admin validation on, that will stop them posting.

U cant ban a username unless it exists, no point of it anyway, they aint gonna use the same name twice!

another way is this...

take off all validation, wait for one to post, go to the post, DONT DELETE IT YET, click IP, get the Ip and ban that.

Then delete it. (the post)

Tell me what happens

oh and Matt said he can install a "magic" thing:confused:to stop them, i dunno lol.

That email was sent to everyone :)

Im going to install a anti spam system tomorrow which reduce spam bots by 80%.

Ill make an announcement.

oh yeah sorry read it about 2 mins ago,i thought it was just my site been targetted by these spammers they are so annoying and i think it detracts members from my site

If we email a single forum, we mention that we are only emailing a specific forum and the title will start with "Attention:" :)

Don't worry, we had this issue with the support forum, until i turned email validation on.
