A tip about Member Group!
« on: June 08, 2012, 09:09:37 pm »
Hello all,

Here is a small tip i want to give to all of you. I have seen alot of threads that say how do i put crowns by Names. Some people gave you a code. USE THAT CODE AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you have more then 80 characters in your member group well just kiss your member group good bye because you wont be able to modify it EVER AGAIN unless you buy a backup. So if you would like a crown by username then there is a mod suggested in the suggestion board and support that. The more support the more chances of being added so please support that and don't use the code. Well if you think you can handle the code well you can use it but AT YOUR OWN RISK!
It's $2.95 to have a backup restored.

Thank you,
Mstcool

Well now I know and I asked for a backup and they are not responding to my requests, it has been over 2 days now. I also saw that it costs $50 instead of $3 like one of the Staff Members said.

No, the $50 backup is if you want to transfer your forum to another host. It's $2.95 to have a backup restored.

And I've spoken to Alex about this, but he's been very busy recently, so sorry for the wait.

It's just if someone puts 80 characters in a membergroup name field such as the people who use HTML to put the images in there. Unfortunately, a lot of our users are RuneScape private server owners and they like to have crowns beside their membergroup names to mimick the staff of Jagex Games Studio (the creators of the real RuneScape), who have golden crowns with "M"s on them when they say things in-game. I, however, am not really supposed to associate myself with any private servers, due to the probability of me joining Jagex Games Studio in the future - I'd hate to have anything interfere with my dream job!

No, the actual forums are not against Jagex copyright. The servers may very well be, however, we do not host servers at any point nor do we support them.

I'm not going to be joining the department that deals with that. :P Operations/management in more of the game-related features. And no - the forums aren't really against Jagex copyrights (unless they're using Jagex artwork), but the servers really are. Jagex generally is more concerned about bot developers and gold farmers than RSPS's, but still - I'm not a big fan of them since they're basically ripping off of my number 1 favourite game of all time. :P
