Well, I'd say that in addition to posting about your forum across the internet and possibly looking into making a Google AdSense account, you should continue to expand and innovate - do something that normal gaming forums don't, think of events to do with your community, create groups across the internet for your forum (such as a Steam group, a Facebook group, or a Google+ Circle), get involved as much as possible, etc. Make people WANT to sign up. :)

EDIT: Social media is always a plus - creating a Facebook/Twitter/Google+ account for your forum can make it easier for people to stay connected and updated. :)
EDIT2: I notice you have an EXTREME number of boards. If you cut down on the number of boards and consolidated the rest, it would make your forum look less inactive yet overwhelming. :) And if you think that number of users is a low number, see my gaming forum, who has just me as the only active member. ;)

Haha, no problem. :) Yes, I am an amateur games developer, and I'm working on two different games at this time. :)

Haha, thanks for joining the site - I'll try to join yours when I have some spare time on my hands. :)

And as for games, my team and I primarily use Sphere 1.5 for 2D games and DxStudio for our 3D games. Both are easy and quick to learn, and they're capable of many of the things that higher-end engines can use. Other than the engines themselves, we use Blender and 3DSMax, though we are able to use other programs like Maya as well. The language that both engines use is a higher-end, more application-oriented JavaScript (SpiderMonkey is used in Sphere, and I'm not sure what version of JS is used in DxStudio), however we can upgrade the engine to support other languages such as VB, C++, etc. DxStudio actually makes it easier for us to create MMOs if we wanted to, and had the resources to do so. Here's a link to both engines if you're interested:

Sphere: http://www.spheredev.org
DxStudio: http://www.dxstudio.com/

We also do use other engines occasionally, such as Gamemaker (we're taking part in the Gamemaker Studio beta), or Gamestudio (for test projects and tech demos, occasionally.). I'm actually creating a small physics-based minigame in Gamemaker at this time - it's one of the two projects I'm actually actively working on development with. (The other being my massive 2D fantasy adventure-RPG) Also, if you'd like more information on the game team project as a whole, check out this site: http://www.joquanpro.tk (pronounced Joe-Kahn)

Well, anyways - I probably should stop, this is beginning to sound like some sort of PR release. :p
