Clara's Feedback Thread

In regard to this:

Blah blah not easy hosting that many forums, whatever. You're singing from the same hymn sheet because you haven't got a clue what's going on.

"Sorry guys this is doing my head in, taking ages", not exactly an update. Surely he has a better timescale like next week, next month, next year?

Just an ESTIMATE of when it's going to be fixed, because THIS IS A JOKE.

You either need to use the profit you're making to hire more administrators to sort out your issues or find better administrators and sort it out.

EDIT: It took nearly 10 minutes and 2 "error" pages to post this, you guys really need to sort your crap out. Why people choose you is beyond me.

EDIT: You're hosting 58,231 free forums with 5,097,237 posts. To my recollection, not all of these forums are down because of the server issue therefore your post is incorrect. Get me an answer from Alex or whoever runs this ****.

I want to state that whatever I've posted in that guy's thread was not a complaint but an observation about his situation, which remains his situation and not mine.

I don't complain about my free hosted forum because it's free.

But I know where this guy is coming from because he's paid money, and I know where he's coming from because people with forums have communities that are at risk of being lost because of forum unreliability, even if the community is on a free hosted forum.

Look at it this way--some of us on free hosted forums are giving SMFNew a trial before shelling out money, and any grief that paying members get even after paying is a disincentive for free hosted boards to go Pro.  If a free hosted board loses people from the community due to unreliability, it's a cost to the free board all the same when people are lost from the community.

When people pay for an account, support is paid for, and that includes getting notices about server situations.  Especially getting notices about server situations.  I'd like to pitch in and help out if I could but staffers also have developed a lousy "bedside manner" when I do.

Fine, be that way.

I'll just run my li'l community and mind my own beezwax, but so help me if I lose any of my people....

Alex is going to be offering a refund for our Pro users, as he stated in the one thread on this recent downtime. I'll just state that first.

Secondly, about users giving SMFNew a trial, it's not very fair to take a time when we're having issues with server moves and judge our service by that. If they'd see how we normally operate (as this server move was massive compared to previous ones), it would be a much more fair judgement. If people aren't going to be fair in their judgements of our service, they're sadly missing out on our true nature.

Our Pro users receive prioritised support in addition to the normal features that come with their purchase. But we haven't even been able to update them, because there's really not much to tell other than "We're still working on it." That's simply all that can be said about the move, as frankly, there's not much more to tell.

We don't mind when you help out, as I've seen you've been rather helpful. However, when you threw in personal opinion on our operations instead of posting in this board as I asked you many times to do, it can be quite frustrating for us. And unless you're considering the "I think SMFNew should update us more often, and on Facebook as well as Twitter" bit helping, I know I've never given you trouble with what you said.

And about your last part: "so help me if I lose any of my people". What is that supposed to mean? If that's a threat, I'll ask you to keep it out of your posts.

Citroen does not pay for his forum, he is on the free server. No Pro Hosting users have been effected by the move, as they are much easier to move.

We understand your frustration but we are working full time on moving the free forums to a faster server. It will be worth it.
