Hello everyone!
Today is a monumental day in SMFNew history. As we stated at the launch of SMFNew 2, we aim to continue to bring innovative changes to our service that we think will benefit you, our users. Over the past six months, the code monkeys at SMFNew HQ have been developing a cool new piece of software that will innovate forum usage. So on this date, we have decided that the time is right to announce our upcoming service, SMFNew Voice(TM). SMFNew Voice(TM) will take over from the current, boring way of visiting forums. From the 1st of September, 2015, we will redirect all users visiting SMFNew forums or SMFNew.com to the new SMFNew Voice(TM) service.
SMFNew Voice(TM)'s home page will have a set of commands (which will be spoken via your microphone). A few of these commands would include:
-Create new forum
-Support Forum
-Go To (Forum Name)
-Go To My Forum (Forum Name or ID Number)
So how does this work? If a user wished to create a new forum, they would say, "Create new forum", after which they will be directed to the normal signup page, but they will no longer have to type in the information; they will now use only their voice to enter in these details. If a user desired to visit a certain forum, they would say "Go To (SMFNew Support Forum)", replacing the text within the parentheses with the name of the forum that they wish to visit.
Once on a forum, they will also be able to use their voice commands here. Some of the forum-side voice commands would include:
-View thread 'threadIDhere'
-Reply to thread
-Create new topic
-and so much more!
As part of our plan to bring back the popularity of web forums, we will be phasing out the use of the usual keyboard and mouse, and replacing it entirely with SMFNew Voice(TM). This means you will no longer have to use a cumbersome keyboard or mouse to talk to each other! Yet another reason why SMFNew leads the pack of online forum hosts!
We hope you will all enjoy this upcoming feature. We will be launching an early beta access program tomorrow and will invite some of our most loyal users to try out this innovative service and help us refine it. In case a few of you didn't catch what date I posted this on, this was our April Fool's prank for the year. The original idea was created by Alex several years back but we forgot to use it until this year. Hopefully this didn't scare anyone away! ;D
