SSL now supported for sites!

At the moment this is a manual setting which you can turn on under Admin -> Forum Settings then check "Use Forum SSL"
SSL is also enabled by default for all new forums.

Our support forum has SSL enabled and you can check out a demo of it at
Google chrome is rolling out an update in October to flag any non SSL https site that a flag as in secure.

Some things to keep in mind remote content if you are using SSL most be in https:// based to load. This mainly applies to custom javascript in headers/footers and custom css. We proxy remote images inside posts automatically. Also if you users of old browsers/computers SSL does not work on windows xp.

If you are a custom domain user not using as your domain. You can look into SSL by checking out Or you can buy an SSL certificate and we can install it on your domain for a one time fee of $50

Options to earn money from a forum:

Paid subscriptions - you can charge for different membership levels

AdSeller Pro - you can place your own ads requires ultimate smfnew plan.

Store - you can sell digital or physical items requires store addon or ultimate plan

Classifieds - you can charge people for auction or listings requires classifieds addon or ultimate plan

SMFNew is excited to announce a new awesome feature inline attachments. It allows you to insert an attachment into part of your post! Very useful when dealing picture based threads/forums
As a bonus! Forums that had 10mb total space for storage space or less have been boosted to 20mb which is now the default limit .

This inline attachment feature is located when adding an attachment or editing a post under the attachment section. It gives a couple different options to insert the attachment into a post!

Adds bbcodes [attachimg=n], [attach=n], [attachurl=n] or [attachmini=n] to position attachments within the post.  n is the number of the attachment in the post, eg first = 1, second = 2, etc.
Adds optional align and width attributes as [attachimg=1 align=left width=80]

Here is an example of an inline attachment
[ Guests cannot view attachments ]

This screenshot above was posting as inline attachment inside the post!

Also We have just enhanced the quick search bar on all hosted forums! Based on the page you appear it will show either search entire forum, just the board, or topic.

You also have options to add google/bing search. Or customize what boards are shown as quick links

These features are active on any forum
