Other than header and footer blocks added to the latest sp there's been no other features added or any major changes, so i don't think upgrading sp is really that necessary at this point, but that's just my opinion :)

True but Some people might want those header and footer blocks so this can be useful for them :).

If simple portal gets updated on SMFNEW all smfnew free hosting forum will get updated to the new version of simple portal
